As I get older I feel myself turning more and more into a grumpy old man.
But Port City Post domain aka wix, kindly informed me that I was out of storage and demanded quite rudely that I pay them a monthly fee or leave. I tried to get around it, but they wouldn't let me.

dadgum chinese website designers
and ill be danged if I PAY my very own money for this free newsletter. I mean I like blogging but starbucks prices are so high these days and i need to save every penny for those drinks. This site has actually been my underground site for a while, you will see some older posts that don't look like PCP branding. Thats cause Lucia is always pulling new stunts, just when you think you know her WHAM!! Potato Farmers Wife hits the scene

this is who I've been all along
This site was just my back up, if I felt like blogging about something without posting a meme every 20 words, or just didn't feel like putting on PCP. So that's why there are some posts that are actually serious.
However. as much as it pains my crabby stingy inner old man, I am realizing that blogging is eventually gonna cost some money. Just the way the economy is going, plus the high interest rates, no one has any reason to give anything away for free anymore. So you may see some things you can buy on amazon here and I get a kick back. I don't really know how it all works but don't be shocked when I'm pushing the latest weight loss pills, they pay good.
okay. Without further adeiu, here is our latest post
HAPPY FALL YALL
The time of year that we wait for things to cool down already!
Summer is funny. As it starts its like LETS DO EVERYTHING!! Grilling and beach and fireworks and camping and theres hardly a thing you will say no to.
Then about mid august its like yeesh since when are we so busy and BBQing every single night and you start to covet those slow dark winter hibernating months.
and you can't be bothered with any more social engagements.
Fall in Wilmington comes in phases
Phase one- you see pumpkin spice lattes are back at starbucks. You can't imagine buying a hot drink at all and wonder if the starbucks CEOs think they are in charge of the seasons.
Phase two- you walk into Target and see big chunky sweaters for sale and your skin twtches. you can't really remember what it feels like to be cold. You wonder why the CEOs of target don't hold off on selling sweaters until November.
Phase three- Costco starts putting out Christmas trees and gifts. Do the CEOs of Costco think that were all terrible procrastinators and we will leave our kids in the dust unless we have a 4 month reminder?
Dadgum CEO's, stop pushing the new season on us.

Every store restocking their shelves
THE FINAL PHASE- one morning you open the door and instead of a warm humid air punching you in the face, its cool, crisp THIN air instead. It takes your lungs a bit to adjust, after all its been filtering out the water from the air all summer long and suddenly there's one less step involved. Its like going from drinking a very thick milkshake to regular water and just throws a person off.

Kids processing the change in temperature

My favorite thing about the weather cooling off is being able to let the kids play outside again. When it is so hot the pavement is too hot, you're constantly needing to check on them little red faced things, but with the new reign of thin air, they can be out there for house with no temp regulation support. Life is good

The other thing about seasons, is how boring would life be with no change? Every time a a new season hits the scene, you get a chance to reinvent yourself. You wear different clothes, drink different drinks, eat different foods, and have different hobbies. Its also the reason why a wise man once said "date for at least a year, then you get to see how the person is in each season. No one wants to be married to seasonal depression every Christmas"
But really, by the time fall is here I am ready to put on the oven mitts, pull out the sweaters, stock up on good books and go buy a PSL.
that is all for fall thoughts.
UPDATES FROM ROCKLEDGE ROAD

Thomas recently turned one and has juuust started walking. We are aware that our last post about him did not paint him in the most flattering of ways and feel that the PCP audience needs an update.
Slowly but surely, he has stopped being as demanding and loud, and turned into a smiley cute baby who mostly just watches Avery. Sometimes tries to copy her and has been so frustrated that he cannot jump like she can. He is tall, mellow, and overall low maintenance. Has his fathers posture exactly when he is sitting down.

The only exception to this is getting a diaper or clothes change. Then he turns into a ju jitsu escape artist and writhes around whilst protesting the injustice that is being forced upon him.
Otherwise he is good, we are good, things feel normal
His mother was decorated with a purple heart, distinguished service cross, and a Nobel peace prize award for surviving the newborn phase.

thank you thank you, I'd like to thank my reptilian brain for both my and thomas' survival through these many moons of bleakness

Avery and Thomas are the best of friends, and Lucia is often asked if they are twins.
The days are much easier when your kids keep each other entertained.

Life is good again. Moms all have their own strengths but mine is not remembering diapers, bottles, formula, etc so Motherhood is much easier when the kids are heartier and can put down a McChicken in a pinch. And the patience tank does not need to be as big when you can get a general feel for why your kids is upset and aren't just stabbing int he dark.
Speaking of growing and maturing, Wilmington congregation has been doing the same.
GROWTH IN WILMINGTON OALC

Sociologists point to the pandemic as a source of the influx of people, but they failed to account for a blog that portrayed Wilmington in such a favorable light that it has influenced many to move here.
Not exactly sure what the stats are, but based on the number of empty benches we have about doubled in size in the last year. Which is great but also a confusing time for everyone. It's no longer possible to just invite the whole church over ( though Mary and Stan do attempt this feat quite regularly )
Even though we are a slow southern relaxed congregation, we've had do introduce new and foreign concepts like systems (/ˈsistəm/) Change is hard, change takes time especially when you need to learn new vocabulary.
Whatever your team wants to do isn't quite working anymore.
Coffee is now being served every Sunday , and we have formulas and ratios to follow when it comes to recipes, cleaning solutions, and how many visitors to allow per month.

Figuring out the new protocol
Mary and Stan are also pushing boundaries in this area. They are constantly reaching new records of VPM (visitors per month) and ignoring their recommended quota.
There is something sad about growth, about change. But it is also vital to the overall health and bloodline of the congregation. There is more stability, and if a family decides to move, it will not rock the whole boat as much as it used to. Pre-growth, news of someone moving was a big blow to everyone.
Now we are a stable cruise ship (with regulations) and keep a sailing away if someone does leave.
I'm sure some of you know that our biggest accomplishment of the year is reaching 67% success rate in convincing Brads family to move here. More family is so fun, cousins are fun, and with more family comes more stability. Its a bit risky when people do actually move here its like, did I talk it up too much? We do have a lot of traffic here and terrible road systems did I mention that? I mean its still life, with more vitamin D.
But everyone is doing good so far as lucia can tell.

Thanks for your continued loyalty even with our sporadic posts and switching websites on you. In gratitude, we would like to offer this heartfelt poem:
Change is hard,
change is life
